 Our
Mission: A long time Neff customer contacted us to duplicate
a press we manufactured for them several years ago. The customer,
a major automotive airbag manufacturer, required an explosion proof
press. During the manufacturing process, the customer uses a highly
explosive powder, which acts as the initiator in airbag deployment.
Safeguarding the press from these volatile agents is imperative
for overall process control.
Our Solution: Neff Press designed and manufactured a 7-ton
bench model press with explosion proof controls. All external electrical
components were specified by Neff engineers to meet the requirements
of Class I, Div II, and group’s E, F and G. The electric motor,
valves, pressure switch, proximity sensors, and operator station
controls were explosion proof. The main control enclosure, which
houses the control electronics, was a cast aluminum design. All
conduits, and pathways were filled with the proper sealing compound
to ensure proper insulation.
